ALF's Thinking Skills

ALF's Thinking Skills is a video game in the educational genre and published by Vision Software, Inc. originally released in 1988. It is currently playable on DOS.

ALF's Thinking Skills is a fun edutainment title for young children starring Alf, the beloved alien from a popular 1980s TV show. Like most early childhood programs, such as The Playroom, Alf Thinking Skills offers several mini-games ('lessons'), each of which is designed to teach a concept.

In the 'Feed the Cat' game, the goal is to lead Alf to Lucky the cat through a path of small logic problems. For example, you see 3 roads with traffic lights leading to the cat. The correct answer is to choose the road with the green traffic light. The other lessons revolve around the concept of colors and shapes. In one lesson, you must choose the correct object to put in the box based on the criteria given to you by Alf (e. g. 'I want a green or square object'). In another, you must choose the correct description of the objects in the box from a menu of options.

The game is a lot of fun, and the good graphics (by 1988 standards) make Alf live in the child's mind. Two thumbs up for this early education title that should help the young children in your house learn basic concepts about logic, shape and color, while having fun in the process.
