Ancient Glory is a video game in the action genre developed by Westwood Associates and published by Big Red Computer Club originally released in 1993. It is currently playable on Apple IIgs.

The Apple IIgs edition of Ancient Glory was released in 1993 and quickly became one of the most popular and adored computer fighting strategy video games of its era. Graphics experienced a major overhaul from the previous-generation Apple IIe version, boasting a more detailed visual presentation that gave the game a sense of grandeur.

The objective of Ancient Glory is deceptively simple: the player must assemble their own Roman army and raze their enemies to the ground. As the commander, the player can choose to lead their imperial forces into battle against an opposing army, or they can take command of their enemies and attempt to dominate the enemy’s entire kingdom. To achieve ultimate victory, the player must systematically construct their legions, accumulate wealth, manage resources, and expand their influence.

Offering a unique and relatively colorful art style blended with an engrossing melodic soundtrack, Ancient Glory was extremely captivating. Players could choose from a diverse range of characters, including Roman legionnaires, centurions, shield bearers, and even centaurs, to create an array of potential strategies. Numerous battle-specific events and an overall score were included, giving players an additional incentive to lead their armies to a glorious victory.

The game also featured an impressive level of difficulty, allowing players to choose between an "easy," "hard," or "insane" mode. The variety of options in this regard ensured that Ancient Glory remained a challenge for many hours of playtime, and this gave the game an unusually lasting appeal.

Despite the passage of time, Ancient Glory can still be seen as a classic and beloved example of a computer fighting strategy.
