Assault Machine

Assault Machine is a video game in the action genre and published by Nexus Productions Ltd. originally released in 1986. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.

The planet Targon is a nuisance to the galactic police, but it has always been on the planet. However, news comes from the planet that they are developing an incredibly powerful Assault Machine. It is going to be used to conquer other planets. The police have to do something now.

You have been given four search droids and three atmospheric aircraft. You have managed to find a small safe place on the planet Targon to conduct proceedings. You are surrounded by 10 islands that house factories that manufacture the weapon. You need to find the factories on the islands so you can send a plane to bomb them.

Your first task is to get the droid on the island. You send it in a plane that has to shoot the enemy planes to land on the island. Once on the island, fly over the surface to find the drop zone. Now the droid will search the island for the factory that it houses. If the droid is ambushed, the enemy will fire missiles. You can fire the missiles with your anti-Targon missiles.

When you find the factory you have to rescue the droid before sending a plane to bomb all the facilities. At the end of a bombing you will get a report if enough has been destroyed or you need to do another one. Do enough and move on to the next island.

The game looks like a map of the ten islands. When you choose an island to search, the view changes to yourself looking behind the plane. The enemy is coming towards you from the horizon. On the island, the game changes to a vertical scrolling landscape looking for the drop zone. It is also a vertical scrolling game for bombing.
