Avernum IV

Avernum IV is a video game in the role-playing (rpg) genre developed by Spiderweb Software and published by Spiderweb Software originally released in 2006. It is currently playable on Windows.

Avernum 4 puts you in charge of a group of 4 characters, whose task is to discover why your homeland of Avernum has been suffering from a series of unnatural disasters. The game uses a modified version of the Geneforge engine, which means that its interface is completely different from previous Avernum games. Although the character images are the same (the ones that appear on the inventory screen), the graphics used for the characters in the game are different. This also applies to the graphics used for the enemies. The game is played with the mouse and the keyboard, with the former being the main means of control and the latter providing the hotkeys. Thus, movement, interaction with objects, combat and dialogues are controlled with the mouse, although the game can be configured so that the keyboard is also used for movement. Combat is a standard, turn-based affair. Each character has a finite number of action points that are spent on melee or ranged attacks, movement or spell casting.
