Battle

Battle is a video game in the strategy genre and published by Mastertronic Ltd. originally released in 1987. It is currently playable on Commodore 16, Plus/4.

Battle is a strategy war game set in the frigid waters of the North Sea as two oil drilling companies battle for the last oil deposits. Playing against another player or against the computer, each player has to destroy the other players' ships, planes and oil rigs by moving their ships and planes around a single screen with top view. Each player is equipped with four ships, two submarines, a helicopter and a plane to defend four oil platforms and try to destroy the other players' ships.

The game is divided into two phases, the entry phase and the action phase, in which each player takes turns entering his commands. Each player can move their ships around the screen, dive and surface (submarines), land and take off (airplanes) and fire their various weapons. If a ship collides with an oil platform, both are destroyed. Once both players have given their orders, the action phase consists of a short pause before the screen shows all the new positions.
