Battlefield!!!

Battlefield!!! is a video game in the strategy genre and published by Dynacomp, Inc. originally released in 1982. It is currently playable on Atari 8-bit.

Developed by Konami, the Atari 8-bit game, Battlefield!!!, was released in 1982 to widespread critical acclaim. Featuring an array of tanks, soldiers, and buildings, players aim to conquer and fend off their opponents with a high-level of tactical skill.

The game itself features control of tanks, helicopters, and infantry units. When playing as a tank, the analog lever on the joystick is utilized for better control. Tanks have limited fuel, and a short duration of time that can be spent on the battlefield. The goal of the game is to maneuver your way through the battlefield, while attacking enemy forces and destroying them in the process. Careful strategies are key to success and outlasting your opponents.

As well as the actual battle, the game’s players are also presented with maps and detailed schematics. These highlight not only elements on the battlefield, but also essential information such as where power-up bonuses and fuel can be acquired. Being armed with key information leads to different tactics to be devised, and more powerful strategies to be implemented in combat.

Each of these individual battle components come together to help form a compelling game. Players of fields of all skill levels will have to rely not only on their shooting skills, but also their crew management and strategic decision making. Those who master their competitor’s tactics stand an excellent chance of success, while learning out to thrust their resources, leverage their assets, and pivot overall plans as the conflict progresses.

Life and death decisions, knowing when to attack and when to defend your position, and taking destruction into consideration to help you proceed in the game- these are the type of actions Battlefield!!! requires from the very beginning. With the full package on display, it's no surprise Battlefield!!! quickly established itself as one of the classic Atari 8-bit titles, and had players of all ages reliving the heat of the battlefield with intense passion in their home.
