Beast Wrestler

Beast Wrestler is a video game in the action genre developed by Riot and published by Renovation Products, Inc. originally released in 1991. It is currently playable on Genesis.

A one-on-one fighting game seen from an isometric perspective. All beasts or dragons have two basic attacks: a punch and a tail attack, as well as a special attack that can only be performed while a certain icon is displayed. During melee combat, a quick press of the A or C button results in a throw or choke attack. There is no visible health bar, but three icons are displayed at the bottom of the screen. When a dragon is knocked down for a prolonged moment, one of the icons turns red. Once all icons are red, the combat is lost. The combat arena is surrounded by an electric fence, to which opponents can be thrown and which can also be used to initiate jump attacks.

There are two game modes: Match and Tournament. The Match is a single combat for one or two players, in which several different dragons are available. In Tournament, the player starts with a dragon of the week who has to fight increasingly difficult battles and increase his stats (Power, Speed and Endurance). After every two battles, a store can be visited that offers different items, such as food that increases power, speed or stamina, data discs containing information about other dragons and much more. After visiting the store, dragons can be trained. Training simply consists of selecting an attribute to increase. At some points in the game, it is possible to splice the player's Dragon genes with those of a defeated opponent to obtain different abilities.
