Description Bomb Mania

Bomb Mania is a Commodore C64 game for 2 to 4 players based on the classic Bomberman Dynablaster principle. Simply put, players trapped in a maze bomb their way through walls, collect power-ups and try to eliminate each other.

Although the game itself is well known, the main attraction of Bomb Mania is its multiplayer mode. Thanks to the four-player '4JOY' adapter (created specifically for this game and subsequently used by other Protovision titles), up to four players can participate simultaneously to fight and blow each other up to be the last man standing.

There are several power-ups. There are the typical upgrades to the blast range or number of bombs, as well as an increase in speed. Special extras are the ability to kick bombs like a soccer ball and remote bombs (also known as R-bombs) that can explode synchronously on cue.

The game offers eight different levels: Just Fun: A basic round to get players started.Ghost Attack: A ghost dropping R-bombs dominates the level.Hide and Seek: The level introduces pipes to hide in or place bombs inside.Under Pressure: The screen is slowly but steadily walled off and forces players to head to the center of the field trying to eliminate their opponents before the screen is completely walled off. Kick it: Each player is able to kick the bombs as if they were a soccer ball without picking up the corresponding extra.Night Shift: A level in complete darkness except for occasional flashes of light that briefly show what is happening.Mushroom Party: Mushrooms appear randomly. They carry bomb explosions and can cause strong chain reactions.Crazy! All players are fully equipped with lots of bombs with a high explosion rate and no blocks to blow up first - the corridors are free. After each individual level a podium shows the current ranking.

It is an open-ended game. Once the eighth level has been played, the game restarts from the first and the next round begins.
