Chivalry is a video game in the action genre developed by Optimum Resource, Inc. and published by Weekly Reader Family Software originally released in 1983. It is currently playable on Apple II.
Chivalry is a medieval-themed computer board game in which players must rescue the King from the dreaded Black Knight.
The game is set up as a standard board game for up to four players. Each player must take turns and roll the dice or spin the wheel to move the player on that set number of spaces.
There are 35 spaces with over 40 total challenges in which each player must participate in an arcade-style mini-game challenge or make a decision based on the given choices. Tasks range from catching bags of flour in a wagon, finding the secret to dodge a troll or choosing the correct door to enter from a Wizard. Players also have the option to take the high road or the low road in their travels, which also determines the challenges encountered.
Depending on when players land in a space, there are random elements that can affect the outcome, some helpful and some harmful. Winning the challenge determines whether the player will continue to advance across the board. Losing a challenge can set the player back or forfeit a turn.
The game is won when the player manages to defeat the Black Knight by climbing the tower and saving the King.
