Collide, a fast-paced and addictive arcade-style game, was released in 1982 for the VIC-20 home computer. Developed by Mark Kirkby and published by Mr. Micro Ltd, this game was one of the first of its kind for the VIC-20 and became an instant hit among gamers.

The premise of Collide was simple yet challenging. Players would control a circular spacecraft and navigate through a grid-like arena while avoiding or destroying enemy ships. What made this game unique was its use of gravity and inertia, making it a challenging and immersive experience.

One of the key features of Collide was its graphics, which were a step above other games of its time. The spacecraft and enemy ships were well-designed and the particles created by collisions were visually appealing. The game also utilized the VIC-20's limited color palette effectively, creating a striking and futuristic atmosphere.

In terms of gameplay, Collide was incredibly responsive and easy to pick up, making it accessible to both novice and experienced gamers. However, with its increasing difficulty levels, it also provided a significant challenge for those who craved it. The use of gravity and inertia added a layer of complexity, requiring players to think strategically and quickly adapt to changing situations.

What also made Collide stand out was its mesmerizing soundtrack, composed by the legendary Rob Hubbard. With its upbeat and futuristic sound, the music added to the overall immersive experience of the game, keeping players engaged and motivated.

Collide's popularity grew not only due to its engaging gameplay and unique features, but also because of its one-of-a-kind multiplayer mode. Players could compete against each other in split-screen mode, adding a social element to the game and making it a hit at parties and gatherings.
