Combat

Combat is a video game in the action genre developed by Magic Lantern and published by Infogrames Interactive, Inc. originally released in 2001. It is currently playable on Windows.

Based on the tank portion of the Atari 2600 cart that originally came with the console, Combat brings tank warfare to 3D. There is a single-player mode, in which the player must progress through 30 levels, and a multiplayer mode, which allows deathmatch style play.

As in the Atari 2600 game, the tank turrets do not rotate. However, the tanks spin faster and float, instead of relying on treads. This allows them to slide left and right, as well as move forward and backward.

In single-player mode, the player must find the exit in each level to advance. Levels range from the simple 'shoot and destroy until the exit appears' to the complicated 'travel back and forth destroying the enemies needed to open the doors'. There are also levels where you must defeat a 'boss' to advance.

The multiplayer mode allows you to play over a LAN or the Internet. The CD-ROM also includes GameSpy Arcade software if you wish to use it for Internet play.

The CD-ROM also includes a map editor, although it is not officially supported.
