Comical Machine Gun Joe is a video game in the action genre developed by SEGA Enterprises Ltd. and published by SEGA Enterprises Ltd. originally released in 1986. It is currently playable on SEGA Master System.
Comical Machine Gun Joe is a simple arcade-style shoot'em up. You control a gunman named Joe on a single static screen and have to shoot bad guys until a boss appears. Once the boss is shot, the game will switch to another screen.
In addition to shooting, Joe can also jump very high, which is often necessary to reach enemies in higher places. Occasionally a spider will appear, which for some reason reflects both your shots and those of your enemies. Pigs also frequently appear, which give away items such as a smart bomb when you shoot them. Another strange feature is that enemies hit will shrink and move away towards the bottom edge of the screen. If they come into contact with Joe, they cling to him. This slows him down and limits his jumping ability, but the enemies will also serve as a bulletproof shield for him.
Like many early arcade games, the game has no ending. After several screens, the game restarts at the first location.
