Concerned Nuns is a compact Windows adventure in which three sisters attempt to preserve the peace of St. Agnes Convent during an increasingly unsettled night. The convent is divided into chapels, dormitories, kitchens, passageways, and overgrown grounds, each presented as a self-contained area filled with small problems to solve. The player guides the nuns through these locations, examining objects, speaking with residents, and collecting the tools required to restore order before morning prayers.

Each nun has a distinct approach to the convent’s troubles. Sister Beatrice is practical and can operate machinery, move heavy objects, and repair damaged fixtures. Sister Clodagh is observant, allowing her to notice hidden details and interpret inscriptions, while Sister Miriam is especially capable of calming frightened visitors and dealing with disturbances that cannot be solved by force. The player may change between the three characters at suitable points, combining their abilities to open routes and complete tasks. Items are carried in a shared inventory, and many solutions depend on using an object in the correct location rather than simply finding a key.

The puzzles range from straightforward household errands to more involved chains of investigation. A missing bell rope, an overturned pantry, a locked archive, and unexplained noises beneath the chapel all lead to separate sequences of clues. Conversations provide hints without removing the need for exploration, and the sisters’ remarks change according to the situation, giving each room a gently comic character. Progress is recorded automatically as major difficulties are resolved. There is little danger in the conventional sense; mistakes usually result in a humorous exchange or a reset of the immediate puzzle rather than a severe penalty.

Visually, the game uses a warmly colored two-dimensional style with deliberately simple figures, expressive faces, and richly decorated interiors. Stone walls, candlelit altars, wooden furniture, faded religious paintings, and cluttered workrooms give the convent a strong sense of place. The backgrounds are static, but small animated details—flickering flames, swinging signs, fluttering curtains, and passing shadows—keep the scenes active. Character portraits appear during conversations, emphasizing the sisters’ contrasting personalities and the dry humor of their responses.

The soundtrack combines restrained organ phrases with light piano, choral textures, and occasional comic flourishes. Individual rooms carry their own ambient sounds, including creaking boards, distant bells, rain against the windows, and the clatter of kitchen equipment. The result is an unhurried experience built around observation, conversation, and careful experimentation. Concerned Nuns rewards players who inspect every corner, remember seemingly minor remarks, and appreciate the contrast between the convent’s solemn surroundings and the increasingly peculiar troubles occupying its inhabitants.
