Description Corruption

Corruption, the first game released by Mindscape in the late 1980's, has been long celebrated for its originality and playability. The top-down adventure game places the user in an interactive environment unlike any other game at the time.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Corruption was its narrative, which centers around the loss of an astronaut and his search to restore order in the universe. As the protagonist you embark on a mission to find a complex series of clues and warp-gates that will unlock the secrets of a powerful and mysterious ancient force.

The game itself utilizes a number of unique concepts and strategies that are still applicable and enjoyable today. Embodying a distinctive 8-bit aesthetic, Corruption offers puzzle-solving challenges as you progress through the game, unlocking special abilities in the meantime. As you discover hidden webs and portals key to restoring order, the challenge increases.

The combat system in Corruption is another unique feature. You use your score from solving puzzles to build-up defenses, thereby reducing the opponent's ability to attack. Ammunition, armor, and weapons are all collected to increase your chances of success in battle.

A major point of note in the game is that exploration and puzzle-solving are rewarded. This offers an extra incentive to explore entirety of the game, providing the user with an expansive gaming experience.

While it may not be as visually sophisticated or mechanically advanced as today's games, many people will remember Corruption as an important milestone in the gaming industry. Its unique three-dimensional environments, witty dialogue, and original puzzles demonstrate the charm of a now classic title.
