Cyber Chess is a decent clone of Interplay's Battle Chess, although with much inferior graphics and animations, despite being released a few years later.
The pieces are kings, queens and sci-fi robots fighting for survival with chess moves as their only weapons. The game is played from a top-down perspective (i. e. bird's eye view), with a small window at the bottom right of the screen dedicated to displaying the current piece you've selected. The computer AI is decent, although there is no way to change the difficulty level. The game includes minimal options, such as movement hints and player history, which keeps track of your games.
Overall, a good low-budget title that does nothing better than the commercial chess releases. . . although it's not much worse either, except for the lack of options.
