D-Return

D-Return is a video game in the action genre and published by Nihon Computer Club Renmei originally released in 1989. It is currently playable on Sharp X68000.

In the middle of the 22nd century, World War III began between the Allied Power and the Covenant Power. Atomic weaponry had long since been abandoned and neither side was able to prevail. However, twenty years later, the Covenant Power has built a deadly combat satellite on the Moon, aptly named 'Disastrous Disaster'. Fearing that the war will be lost if the satellite attacks their bases on Earth, the Allies send an Illieus fighter ship, navigated by young pilot Unebi Kagurazaka, to counter the threat.

D-Return is a horizontal scrolling shooter game. The player controls a plane, which moves in four directions, avoiding enemy fire and destroying enemies with the main weapon (vulcan gun or laser) and missiles, of which there is a limited supply. The player-controlled aircraft has a health bar that can be restored by flying over certain power-ups. The player can choose from four difficulty levels, the amount of life points and missiles, as well as the speed of the game. Stages usually end in a boss battle.
