Dark Fusion is a single-player side-scrolling shooter game. The title refers to an element of the game in which, after completing a portion of the game, the player, who is a member of the elite Guardian Warriors corps, must choose whether to merge with his defeated enemy or continue with only his deadly powers.
There are four levels in the game and each level is divided into three zones: the combat zone, the alien zone and the flight zone. In the combat zone the player starts as a warrior in a space suit. Scrolling to the right there are numerous aliens to shoot at.
