Darklyte is a turn-based combat game written in STOS. You control a team of four droids fighting against four computer-controlled droids. The playing area consists of a 9x9 square with metal tiles, grass and a moat. The pits are not passable. In the right corner of the screen you can see what weapon the current droid is carrying, how many moves it has left and how much health it has. In the left corner an arrow indicates which droid you are currently controlling. On the left side of the screen you have four icons: attack, end turn, scan enemy and use an item. Each of the droids has six items. They can be used at any time, and when you do they turn dark gray to indicate that they are depleted. The six items are: An injection: Restores the droid's energy. A microchip: Gives the droid 9 moves. A power gauntlet: This gives the droid increased damage on the next attack. A shield: Better defense when you are attacked again. A target: This makes the enemy droids confused. A skull: This gives the droid an advantage in the next attack round. When you destroy a droid, the player's droid will receive some gold and experience points. When you have killed all enemy droids in a level, the exit will appear (in the form of stairs going down). If your commander droid is destroyed, the game is over.
