Bargon no Paka-paka Shōbōken is an adventure game in which the player controls a male character who travels to a tower dungeon for no apparent reason. The game has no stated objective beyond unlocking different areas in and below the tower by obtaining the necessary items. Unlike most Japanese-made adventure games, it is viewed from a top-down perspective and features no interaction menu. The player must guide the protagonist through the corridors of the tower, talking to characters who will usually ask for one item and give another in return. Items are automatically used when the player character is in the right place. There is no combat or any other challenge in the game.
