A-J's Quest

DOS 1992
A-J's Quest is a side-scrolling platformer, based on an early 1990s comic book by the game's author. The game involves exploring several different levels, collecting items and equipment, and fighting eccentric monsters, in an effort to thwart the evil machinations of King Ostro. The character can also collect money, to purchase equipment from a store at the end of each level. The various equipment allows the character, A-J Bear, to perform different attacks of varying effectiveness against the various monsters. Throughout most of the game, A-J Bear is also followed by his pet, the hedgehog, who can be of occasional help against the monsters. Depending on the version of the game, the order, number and layout of the levels may vary. Early versions include secret bonus stages, which are found in each level. Later versions include a more elaborate presentation, additional levels and important bug fixes.
