Jantei Monogatari 2: Uchū Tantei Divan - Kanketsu-hen

A direct sequel to Jantei Monogatari 2: Uchū Tantei Divan - Shutsudō-hen, the game continues the overall plot, following the events of the previous game. The evil alien Dora and her sexy demonic minions descend to Earth, sending their minions to stop Divan and Marie. Divan must use his robot transformation skills to defeat them, which can only be done by playing mahjong. The mahjong gameplay in this installment of the series is identical to that of its predecessor, including distributing points and executing powerful transformation moves to gain the upper hand in the round. Unlike previous games in the series, this chapter dispenses with the rudimentary adventure gameplay, featuring lengthy non-interactive scenes between mahjong games. Another change is the addition of a new mode that allows the player to compete against story mode opponents at any time, without going through the story.

Jantei Monogatari 2: Uchū Tantei Divan - Shutsudō-hen

Uchū Tantei Divan is the sequel to Jantei Monogatari, although it can hardly be considered a true sequel due to its entirely new setting and theme. Set in a science fiction environment, the game puts the player in the role of Divan, a young man who possesses the ability to transform into a powerful supernatural being, and is entrusted by the military authorities to protect Earth against an alien demonic attack. This can only be done by defeating the evil minions in mahjong games. While featuring elements of a Japanese-style adventure game (verbal commands that must be selected from a menu to trigger the next scene), the game focuses on mahjong matches against opponents, which occur as the plot dictates. The game uses standard mahjong rules, with the exception of bonus powers that can be acquired in exchange for points distributed after each round and used in subsequent games.

Megami Tengoku

Megami Tengoku (also known as "The Goddess Paradise") is a Japanese role-playing game that was released in 1994 for the TurboGrafx CD console. Developed by Hudson Soft and Red, the game garnered critical acclaim for its unique gameplay and captivating storyline. It remains a cult classic among gamers and is considered one of the standout titles for the TurboGrafx CD. The game takes place in the fictional world of Celestia, a land ruled by four powerful goddesses. The player takes on the role of a young boy who embarks on a journey to save the kingdom and its inhabitants from an ancient evil that threatens to destroy everything in its path. Along the way, the player must navigate through treacherous dungeons, engage in epic battles, and unravel the mysteries of the goddesses' powers. One of the most striking features of Megami Tengoku is its stunning visual design. The game utilizes anime-style graphics that were considered ahead of its time in 1994. The environments are beautifully rendered, with detailed backdrops and vibrant colors that bring the world of Celestia to life. The character designs are also impressive, showcasing the different personalities and powers of the goddesses and their followers. In terms of gameplay, Megami Tengoku offers a unique blend of traditional role-playing elements and puzzle-solving mechanics. The battles are turn-based and require strategic thinking to defeat enemies. However, the game also incorporates puzzle-solving elements, such as navigating through traps and solving riddles, to progress through the game. This combination adds an extra layer of depth and challenge to the gameplay, keeping players engaged and entertained. The music in Megami Tengoku is also worth mentioning. Composed by the renowned musician Ryuichi Sakamoto, the soundtrack features a beautiful and haunting score that perfectly complements the game's mystical theme. Each track immerses the player in the world of Celestia, enhancing the overall experience of the game. Despite its initial success, Megami Tengoku did face some criticism for its high difficulty level. Some players found the puzzles and battles to be too challenging, making it frustrating to progress through the game. However, this did not deter the game's fan base and is ultimately seen as a testament to its immersive and engaging gameplay.
