Championship Pool
Championship Pool is a pool game in which players can play in an 8- or 9-ball pool tournament that begins with the BCA Regional Championship, in which the player must defeat 32 opponents in a first-to-four game match. If the player loses to any of the 32 opponents, he/she is eliminated from the tournament. The winner advances to the World Championship.
The entire game is played from a top view of the table. The player moves an icon to indicate where he wants to hit the ball. To help aiming, a ghost of the cue ball and the first ball to be hit is played repeatedly to show the trajectory of the struck ball. On all shots there is a very small margin of error, but this is only noticeable when playing a long shot or a shot from an acute angle and the ghost balls will randomly reproduce all possible occurrences. The player can also change the power and spin of the shot played and the ghost balls will update to show the result of those changes.
There are 4 different game modes to choose from, each with a different set of pool games. The different game modes and their games are:
1. Tournament: the player must defeat 32 different players in a first to fourth elimination tournament in 8 or 9 ball pool before moving on to the World Championship. During the tournament, the opponent is never seen playing his shots. Instead, when it is the opponent's turn, a picture of the player is shown with a caption and then control is returned to the player with some balls removed and moved. In this way, the opponent can finish the game in 4 turns, regardless of whether he was outwitted or not.
2. Challenge: It has many different billiard games played, all with a player with no opponent. The games are:14. 1 Challenge - After the break the ball is placed anywhere on the top of the table behind the line. At that time, the player may hit any ball, but if he fails to sink a ball into a hole, the game is over. If there is only one ball left on the table, the rest of the balls are replaced and play continues. At the end, the score is based on the number of balls pocketed. The score is counted over 5 games to get the total score.
Eight Ball - After the break, the ball is placed anywhere on the top of the table behind the line. The player must hit the entire chosen set of balls (stripes or solids) and the 8-ball in one turn. Scoring is based on the number of balls pocketed.
9-Ball - After the break, the ball is placed anywhere on the top of the table behind the line. The player must hit the 9-ball in one turn. Scoring is based on the number of balls pocketed.
Level Play - Same as the 14. 1 challenge but only one game is played.
Three Pool - There are only 3 balls on the table. Scoring is based on the number of shots it takes to pocket all three balls.
Speed Pool - The object is to pocket all the balls as quickly as possible, as a timer measures the time of the game. Any ball can be hit at any time and the player can miss the shot and not be penalized (apart from taking longer). Party: There are different multiplayer pool games that can be played with only 2 or with 2 to 8 human players. The games are:Eight ball (2 players) - A standard eight ball game where players take turns playing.
Nine-ball (2-8 players) - A standard nine-ball game with up to 8 players taking turns. The first player to pocket the 9-ball wins.
14. 1 Continuous (2 players) - Players may pocket any ball to score a point. If a shot is missed, the other player plays. If there is only one ball on the table, pocketed balls are put back on the table. Play continues until one of the players reaches the score chosen at the beginning of the game.
Ten Ball (2-8 players) - Same as Nine Ball, but with 10 balls.
Rotation (2-8 Players) - Only the lowest ball can be hit and the score for pocketing a ball is the value of that ball (e. g. 8-ball is 8 points). The player with the highest score at the end of the game wins.
Straight Pool (2 Players) - Same as 14. 1 Continuous but the player with the highest score after a game wins.
Level Playing Field (2-8 Players) - Same as Level Playing Field in Challenge mode, but players can take turns beating each other's score.
Fifteen Ball (2-8 Players) - Same as Rotation except you can hit any ball and not just the lowest ball.
One Pocket (2 Players) - Both players receive one of two pockets at the end of the table.
