The Adventure is an interactive fiction game set in a school. Interaction with the game is done through a single letter parser (cardinal directions, l for look, t for talk and k for kill). Directions are used to move through rooms, looking gives a description of the current location, talking gives a comment that never changes, and killing results in instant death. The player is free to type other commands into the parser, resulting in script errors.
The only course of action available is to explore the environment until a fatal situation is encountered. After dying, the player has the option of restarting from the beginning (which includes typing the player's name and hearing the PC speaker intro sound again) or quitting with an insult from the author.
