Lords of Conquest is influenced by the board game Risk. You and your opponent start by selecting countries by turns on a map. This can be randomly generated based on the number of countries and water volumes requested, chosen from 19 predefined ones, or created using the built-in editor.
Your army has infantry, cavalry and a water fleet. Natural or produced resources, such as gold and iron, are identified: countries containing them can be the best to invade. You can play at 4 skill levels, and decide how big the luck factor is. With the calculations solved by the computer, players can concentrate on the power games.
