Blupimania
Blupimania is an isometric action puzzle game featuring Epsitec's trademark yellow egg-shaped characters called 'Blupi'. The goal of each level is to guide Blupi safely to the exit, marked by a purple balloon that takes Blupi to the next stage. To do this, the player can manipulate the game environment in many ways, placing or removing objects and, in some cases, directly controlling Blupi, although by default the characters traverse the level on their own. In some ways, the game is similar to Lemmings, but the number of objects and Blupi's abilities make it much more complex, allowing for quite intricate situations for the player to solve.
The game is divided into four sets of levels with puzzles of increasing difficulty. The first part is essentially a set of tutorial levels that gradually introduce the player to the various game objects and gameplay concepts. In addition, there is an integrated level editor that allows users to create and play their own puzzles.
Blupimania was originally sold as shareware, and the unregistered version offered a few puzzles of each difficulty level. The full game contains over 150 puzzles.
CeeBot-4
CeeBot-4 is a treasure trove of fun and learning, an innovative game designed for the Windows platform that was released in 2004. Developed by CeeBot, it is considered one of the pioneers in the realm of educational robot programming games. This game is a perfect blend of science, technology, engineering, and math, commonly known as STEM fields, that teaches concepts of coding and robotics in a playful and interactive manner.
The game is set in a futuristic world where the player takes on the role of a programming wizard who has to design, code, and control robots to complete a variety of challenging tasks. With a wide range of levels and missions, players are presented with a diverse array of challenging puzzles, each one testing different aspects of their programming skills. With each level, the difficulty level increases, making it engaging even for seasoned coders while still being accessible for beginners.
What makes CeeBot-4 stand out from other educational games is its intuitive drag-and-drop interface. This allows for a smooth and user-friendly experience, making it perfect for children and adults alike. The game also features a virtual 3D environment, which enables players to visualize their robots and programs in action, providing a highly immersive experience. It also allows for endless possibilities, as players can experiment with different robot designs and programming methods to find the most efficient solution.
One of the most remarkable features of CeeBot-4 is its focus on real-life applications. The game provides a clear connection between programming and its practical use in the modern world, giving players a glimpse into the world of robotics and artificial intelligence. It also introduces players to various programming languages, including Cee, a simplified language developed specifically for the game. This not only broadens the players' coding knowledge but also instills important problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
CeeBot-4 has received widespread acclaim from both players and educators alike for its ability to make learning complex concepts such as coding and robotics engaging and enjoyable. It has won numerous awards and has been used in several schools worldwide to teach students about programming and logic. Its success has led to the development of newer versions and sequels, each one more challenging and exciting than the last.
CeeBot3 Educational Programming Software
CeeBot has been designed to teach programming to students from 11 years old with a modern pedagogical approach: autonomous learning, creativity, interdisciplinarity, staged in a colorful 3D environment. Students program a robot that draws still images and animations with a soundtrack.
CeeBot3 has a complete object-oriented language compatible with Java, but only a few basic concepts are taught in the exercises: simple 'repeat' loops (non-standard in Java), functions without and with a float parameter, 'for' loops. With these concepts students can draw cartoon-like animations. Many more concepts are implemented and documented, including various types of variables, arrays, file management instructions and class definitions. Advanced students can use these features to implement complex algorithms.
The demo version has no time limit and can be used to teach programming in a classroom setting. It contains 6 of the 25 chapters of the full version. If your students already know some basic programming concepts, the CeeBot3 demo is a complete programming environment that provides an introduction to multimedia and will allow students to apply their programming knowledge in a motivating environment. If your students know nothing about programming, you will need the full version to get a complete educational tool that will do most of the teaching on its own, offering a smooth pedagogical progression with over 100 exercises.
The interactive debugger will help students understand early programming concepts and debug more advanced algorithms.
