In 80 Days Around the World
In 80 Days Around the World, the player takes on the role of Phileas Fogg, a Victorian gentleman who has made a bet with his friends that he can circumnavigate the globe in just 80 days. The player must travel by any means necessary, including steamships, trains, hot air balloons and more, collecting clues and avoiding obstacles along the way.
The game is set in a faithful recreation of the late 19th century world, with accurate representations of locations, people and cultures. It was one of the first games to utilise digitised photos and video, and featured a soundtrack by renowned composer Chris Hülsbeck.
Despite its innovative features and gameplay, In 80 Days Around the World was not a commercial success, and was met with mixed reviews from critics. Some praised its ambition and scope, while others criticised its long and complex gameplay. Nonetheless, it remains a cult classic, and is fondly remembered by those who played it.
