Hydefos

MSX 1989
Hydefos is a classic MSX game, released in 1989, that has captured the hearts of many gamers. It is a puzzle game that challenges players to use strategy and quick thinking to successfully navigate through levels filled with obstacles and enemies. The game takes place in a futuristic world where the player controls a character named Pibi, who must navigate through underground tunnels and collect items while avoiding dangerous creatures known as Hydefos. The levels are set up in a maze-like fashion, with players having to figure out the best route to take in order to reach the end. What makes Hydefos stand out from other puzzle games of its time is its unique gameplay mechanics. Instead of simply moving objects around like in traditional puzzle games, players must also take into account Pibi's limited oxygen supply. This adds an extra layer of challenge and urgency to the game, making it a true test of skill and quick decision-making. But don't be fooled by the seemingly simple gameplay. Hydefos is notorious for its challenging levels and puzzles that require both logic and skill to solve. Each level introduces new obstacles and enemies, making the game progressively more difficult as players advance. It is a game that keeps players on their toes and constantly thinking ahead. The graphics of Hydefos may seem basic compared to today's standards, but back in 1989, they were ahead of their time. The game features detailed sprites and backgrounds that really bring the underground world to life. The sound effects and music also add to the immersive experience, creating a sense of tension and excitement as players work their way through each level. What also adds to the charm of Hydefos is its rich storyline. As players progress through the game, they uncover more about the mysterious world of Hydefos and the role Pibi plays in it. This adds an element of mystery and intrigue to the game, keeping players engaged in the overall narrative.

OutRun 2019

Genesis 1993
The basic structure of the Outrun game is reused in this one, with the main difference being that a futuristic setting has been used. The circuits have spectacular slopes and the cars reach almost 700 km/h. Four different track sequences are offered, and your goal is to complete each section of the track within the time limit. As in the original OutRun game, near the end of each stage there are forks in the road, allowing you to choose different routes within the track sequences. There are also other cars on the road to avoid.

Psychic World

Released in 1991 by SEGA, Psychic World is a beloved classic game for the Master System console. Developed by the renowned studio, Hertz, this action-platformer combines challenging gameplay, unique abilities, and a captivating storyline that kept players on the edge of their seats. The plot of Psychic World follows the story of Lucia, a young girl with extraordinary psychic abilities. When her mentor, Dr. Knavik, is kidnapped by an evil organization, Lucia must use her powers to save him and stop their nefarious plans. As players progress through the game, they encounter a variety of enemies, ranging from robots to mutant creatures, all testing their skills and reflexes. One of the standout features of Psychic World is its gameplay mechanics. As Lucia, players have access to four different psychic powers - Mind Blast, Telekinesis, Psycho Dash, and Teleport. Each ability serves a different purpose, from attacking enemies from a distance with Mind Blast to using Psycho Dash to traverse through obstacles. Balancing the use of these abilities is crucial to clearing each stage and progressing through the game. Moreover, throughout the game, Lucia can collect items that enhance her psychic powers and health. These items are hidden throughout the stages, adding an element of exploration to the gameplay. Additionally, players can access a shop in between stages to purchase more powerful upgrades, making the gameplay even more engaging. Along with its challenging gameplay, Psychic World also boasts stunning graphics and an immersive soundtrack. The different levels of the game are beautifully designed, with vibrant colors and intricate details. Furthermore, the soundtrack perfectly complements the gameplay, with its upbeat and energetic tunes keeping players pumped up throughout the game. Another standout aspect of Psychic World is its replay value. With multiple endings and secrets to uncover, players can find themselves re-playing the game in search for all its hidden treasures and endings. Additionally, mastering each of Lucia's psychic abilities and finding the most efficient ways to use them adds a layer of depth to the gameplay. Despite its success, Psychic World often flew under the radar due to the popularity of other Master System games such as Sonic the Hedgehog. However, it remains a cult classic among fans of the console and is often praised for its challenging gameplay and captivating story.
