Quake Mission Pack No. I: Scourge of Armagon
Shub-Niggurath and his minions have been defeated, but that doesn't mean Quake's forces are finished. Arriving back at the base, you find it overrun by more hellish creatures. Armagon, another of Quake's lieutenants, wants to pick up where Shub-Niggurath failed. It's up to you to stop Quake once again.
Scourge of Armagon is the first official mission pack for Quake. It contains 15 new single-player levels spread over three episodes, a new deathmatch level and new monsters, weapons and power-ups.
There are two new monsters: The Centroid is a huge mechanical scorpion that uses its stinger to attack up close and two nail guns implanted in its claws to shoot from afar. The Gremlin is a small, fast creature that can steal the player's weapon and use it against him.
Among the new weapons is the proximity mine launcher, which fires grenades that stick to walls, ceilings or floors. The grenades are motion-sensitive and are activated when creatures walk near them. The laser cannon fires energy blasts that can bounce off walls and back at the player or wound another enemy. The last new weapon is the Mjolnir, Thor's hammer. It runs on energy cells and fires bolts of lightning at enemies when it hits the ground.
New power-ups include the Empathy Shield, which returns some of the damage taken by the player to the attacker, and the Spell Horn, which summons a creature to fight alongside the player.
