Inhumane

Apple II 1984
Waking up on an abandoned archaeological dig in the desert, the player of this rudimentary, satirical text adventure (derived from Infocom's Infidel) is brought up to speed via plot preview notes kindly left by Francisco Roboff (on loan from Mask of the Sun), a 'friend' who returned to civilization with all the treasures he had surreptitiously excavated at the pyramid dig, except for one, the gold coffin he couldn't find, which he left for his old friend to dig up. After some back and forth, the player gains access to the subway vaults of the buried pyramid, discovering no less than nine different death traps and a peculiar motivation to experience them all firsthand. If the player succeeds in his goal, unlimited treasure awaits in the form of a golden coffin . . and a somewhat inscrutable joke about the author's high school geometry class.
