Schwarzschild III: Wakusei Dethperant

PC-98 1992
Springing Star Detherant is the third film in the Schwarzschild series, following Champions of the Empire. Human civilization has expanded beyond the Milky Way, but further progress is difficult due to the presence of powerful alien nations embedded beyond the galactic border. The game is set in the Gardinal star system, not far from the Milky Way. Players assume the role of Exus Graft, a human ('Earthling' in game terms) and leader of the small Parsian Republic. There are 11 nations in the region, and Graft must defend his new home through skillful diplomacy and military strategy. The basic rules of the game are the same as in the first two games. As in the previous game, the emphasis is on grand strategy, including resource management, research and diplomacy, rather than combat tactics. As in the previous game, combat is automatic, and players only select general commands during their turns. The interface has been completely redesigned, with a much larger display area for star systems and the elimination of fixed menu windows. The 'Japanese Desperant' series is more character-centric than its predecessors, depicting unique aliens and assigning a distinctive look to each leader and general. It also has a stronger anime flavor in terms of visuals.
