Sotsugyō Crossworld

In 1997, the gaming world was introduced to a unique and innovative game by SEGA Saturn called Sotsugyō Crossworld. This game, translated to "Graduation Crossworld" in English, was a simulation game that combined elements of dating, strategy, and adventure. Developed by Pandora Box, Sotsugyō Crossworld garnered a dedicated following and became known as one of the most underrated gems in the SEGA Saturn library. The premise of the game revolved around the player taking on the role of a high school student in the fictional city of Shimazu. As the game's title suggests, the ultimate goal was to graduate from high school, but the journey to get there was far from simple. Players had to navigate through various challenges and scenarios, such as studying for exams, managing relationships with friends and potential romantic interests, and even participating in school clubs and activities. One of the unique features of Sotsugyō Crossworld was its open-ended gameplay. Unlike most simulation games that had a set storyline, Sotsugyō Crossworld allowed players to make their own choices and affect the outcome of the game. This gave players a sense of control and immersion, as their decisions had real consequences within the game world. The game also incorporated a dating aspect, allowing players to pursue romantic relationships with other characters. This added another layer of complexity to the game, as players had to balance their academic life with their love life. Additionally, the game featured a real-time clock system, with each in-game day lasting one hour in real-time. This added a sense of urgency and unpredictability, as players had to manage their time effectively in order to achieve their goals. Graphically, Sotsugyō Crossworld was well ahead of its time. The characters were well-designed and expressive, with detailed animations and realistic movements. The game also featured full voice acting, adding even more depth to the characters and their interactions. Despite its unique gameplay and advanced graphics, Sotsugyō Crossworld unfortunately did not receive the recognition it deserved. This was mainly due to its limited release only in Japan and the increasing popularity of the Sony PlayStation. However, for those who were lucky enough to play this game, it remains a beloved and memorable title that pushed the boundaries of the simulation genre.
