Tom Long: The Time Adventure
Tom Long: The Time Adventure is a point-and-click adventure game in the graphic style of the old Lucas Arts adventures.
The story is about how schoolboy Tom has to travel back in time to rescue his girlfriend from the evil character Don Tomato, who has managed to absorb her into a computer through a projection device that was part of a new game that Tom installed at the beginning of the game.
Don Tomato wants to take over the world, and Tom has to travel through the computer device to the wild west, medieval times and the stone age as he searches for his missing girlfriend and stops Don Tomato's evil plans.
It is played with the mouse, changing the action by selecting different mouse pointer icons for talking, picking, using/opening, looking and moving.
The game uses predefined phrases in dialogue trees with some self-ironic humor; if you don't make the right choices, you repeat a previous dialogue sequence until you get it right.
There is a scrollable item inventory, and the items you can pick up are indicated by moving the mouse pointer over the hotspots. Sometimes you have to examine an object with the 'look' action before you can pick it up, even if it is in view.
The game has only German text, and was produced as an advertising game for a German food producer (of potato chips, Rösti, etc. ), but still contains no product placement.
