Super Soccer
Super Soccer is a soccer simulator developed by Imagine Software for the Spectrum 48/128 in 1984. The game is controlled with the keyboard or joystick and can be played by one player or up to eight players in tournament mode.
The player's objective is to kick the ball into the opposing team's net. At the end of the game time, the team that scores the most goals wins. There is a game timer at the top of the screen, which will pause while you wait for the game to restart or for a free kick. There are five action keys that can be defined: left/right/up/down/kick. There is always only one active player on each team. This is the player to whom the action keys will be applied. The active player will have a small 'halo' over his head to indicate who he is. If the active player is too far away from the ball, the player closest to the ball becomes the active player. So, the game is as simple as placing the active player next to the ball and kicking the ball. However, it is not that simple. Opposing players may tackle to get the ball, the ball may go out of bounds, or your kick may go farther than expected or be blocked.
To make things even more realistic, when a goal is scored, players on that team will jump up and have to run back across the center circle to their own team before play can resume.
The main menu offers the following options
Number of players: 1 player or up to 8 players; if you select more than 2 players, you will be in tournament mode.
Game mode: Choose between single match, tournament or practice.
Duration of the match: default is 10 minutes, but can be adjusted to 20 or 30 minutes.
Level of play: three levels of difficulty, the default level is 1.
Color editor: You can change the color of the field, the color of the border and the color of the stripe of each team.
Name editor: The team names are the names of the top British clubs of the 1980s. If you want to play for a team such as Barcelona, Miami, Rotherham, etc. you can use this option to change the existing teams as you wish.
