The player takes Vinnie on a foolproof journey through 17 scenes in search of Ernie York's treasure and the graves of his great ancestors. Each scene contains some sort of puzzle that must be solved correctly or Vinnie's life will be in danger. Occasionally, players can obtain items for later use. There are also characters that players can interact with to advance the scene. After completing a certain number of rooms, players will receive an access code to continue the game after their death.
Vinnie's adventure continues through the maze to enter the heart of his ancestral tomb. In each level, players must traverse the maze, blow doors with explosives, open doors with keys, solve puzzles and overcome certain obstacles to progress. There are also encounters where Vinnie dies (mostly by trial and error). For each level completed, players receive an access code to bypass that level next time; on the third level, players must earn an energy ball to keep Vinnie alive.
