Hunchback of Notre Dame is an interactive storybook based on the original story of the same name (although the game was published in 1996, it is not based on the Disney movie released that same year). The interactive storybook part shows a scene from the story and superimposes it over a text that is also read to the user. Once the text is read, the overlay disappears and the story allows the user to click on various areas of the screen to trigger reactions, often comical, from characters and inanimate objects.
In addition to the storybook, the game includes 4 mini-games: Make-A-Match: A classic memory game in which a 4x4 grid of rocks hides 8 pairs of matching pictures inspired by the story. The player removes 2 rocks at a time to try to find the matches. Ring The Bell: Another type of memory game involving 6 bells. A mouse rings a sequence of bells and the player must remember and repeat the sequence. Rat Maze: Navigate a piece of cheese to the plate at the end of the maze. Gargoyle Builder: Build your own gargoyle with different colored body parts. Then make it dance.
