You are Titus. You must build a party of adventurers in the colony of the Tree Druids to discover the fate of the recently vanished inhabitants.
This game is one of the first RPGs designed specifically for the Mac computer, and takes full advantage of its interface by making extensive use of drop-down menus and windows, including an automatic mapping feature. Commands can also be entered as in a standard text adventure and it has a reasonably sophisticated parser.
Infocom subsequently bought the rights to the game, tweaked it, and re-released it as Quarterstaff: Tomb of Setmoth.
Infocom chose this title as the first in their RPG line. Originally self-published by Simulated Environment Systems under the name Quarterstaff (see there for details) exclusively for Mac, Infocom improved the game, added a subtitle, added color for colored Macs, corrected numerous bugs, and even changed the story a bit. They also added a help window for hints, and several other useful gadgets.
