Another Genesis

PC-98 1990
Young Jin has grown up in a quiet isolated hut in the bosom of a peaceful family, thinking it was his own. But when he turns sixteen, he discovers that he has been adopted; on a rainy night, he was found outside the hut. His mother, dying from numerous wounds, gave his adoptive family a sword and a letter explaining that Jin was destined to prevent the resurrection of an evil demon lord once he turned seventeen. Jin leaves his home and embarks on the dangerous journey that will mark his destiny. . . Another Genesis is a fairly simple and very traditional Japanese style RPG. The player navigates the hero(es) through a top-down world, visiting towns, buying weapons and armor, descending into dungeons, and fighting randomly appearing (though surprisingly infrequently) enemies in turn-based combat viewed from the first-person perspective. The graphical and gameplay style is heavily influenced by early Dragon Quest, including a similar interaction menu with options such as 'Talk' and 'Gate'.

Pink Shock Pirates II

PC-98 1990
After the brave pirate Pink defeated the evil Temujin in the first game, peace has been restored to the land of Thanatos. However, the demonic forces cannot be annihilated so easily; Temujin's spirit is still alive, searching for a body to possess once the power of the seal imprisoning his soul is gone. The king of earth is concerned, especially since Pink herself has disappeared, possibly kidnapped by Temujin's agents. The king summons four female knights under Sara's command, and orders them to rescue Pink and stop the forces of evil once again. Pink Shock Pirates II retains many gameplay elements from the original; however, instead of being a hybrid between two complete genres (strategy and RPG), it is more of an RPG with strategy elements. Instead of controlling Pink solo and hiring crew members, the player controls a standard RPG party (up to five characters). More game time is now spent exploring the land masses on foot, fighting enemies that randomly appear in turns. Despite the drastic reduction in the number of active combatants, battles still have a strategic feel to them: the player has to position the five girls on the battlefield and navigate around it, attacking when an enemy comes within range. Cities are now viewed from the same top-down view as the rest of the game, and can be physically explored. Sea exploration and ship customization are still present in the sequel. It is no longer possible to fight with ship cannons; instead, the player can acquire multiple ships. From time to time, a whole armada of ships will attack the protagonists, resulting in turn-based battles that are played similarly to the usual ones, the combatants being represented as separate ships instead of individual characters. As in the first game, enemies may decide to board the player-controlled ship, resulting in a battle with a larger number of combatants (including 'nameless' crew members).
