Aliens

DOS 1989
Earth is under alien attack! The player is the only defender and has to prevent the alien ships from reaching their destination by ramming them. Although the game is technically turn-based, the result is an action game: each round has a timer and at the end of the round all enemies move one field, even if there has been no player movement. The round also ends when the player moves, so, at least on lower difficulty levels, a fast enough pace can keep the enemies in place. The playing field (one screen) is filled with different ASCII characters representing objects in the game: the player's ship, alien ships (taken out of the game when touched), droid ships (deadly when touched), meteorites (deadly to both player and enemies), land mines and stationary mines (also deadly). The game ends when all alien ships disappear, when an alien ship reaches Earth or when the player dies. There are nine difficulty levels that determine the duration of a round.
