Micro Machines V3
Micro Machines V3, released in 1998, was the third installment of the popular game, Micro Machines. It has become a classic computer game and at the time of its release, was extremely successful.
The game centres on miniature vehicles, from cars to tanks, that race over a variety of outlandish courses. While the gameplay was simple, the sheer variety of courses and the ability to select from a plethora of customisable vehicles gave the game endless replayability. Over 30 courses and 100 vehicles were part of the package, allowing players to take control of anything from a monster truck to a speedboat. It was even possible to play as the Wing Commander, a popular and iconic character from the game.
A multiplayer mode was also included in V3, adding a whole new level of competition to the game, as players raced each other in a series of championships. What truly made the game stand out was its chaotic and vibrant art style, with vivid colours and cartoonish visuals. This, combined with the sound effects and accompanying tunes, made the experience even more immersive.
For many of us, Micro Machines V3 provides a great dose of nostalgia. It was a game full of surprises, and each level was a joy to play. You'd never know what to expect and the action just kept going faster and faster. Even now, over 20 years after its release, it remains a classic game that holds up well and is still incredibly fun to play.
