Dick Tracy: The Crime-Solving Adventure

Dick Tracy: The Crime-Solving Adventure is a video game in the action genre developed by Distinctive Software, Inc. and published by Walt Disney Computer Software, Inc. originally released in 1991. It is currently playable on DOS.

A fun action-strategy game based on the comical private investigator who had his 15 minutes of fame on the big screen. The game is decidedly better than the movie: Disney combines furious platform shooting sequences with investigative elements that consist of collecting and analyzing clues to determine the identity of the suspect. The gameplay consists of jumping into your squad car and hitting the streets in search of clues and informants, while fighting off thugs and dragging crime figures in for questioning.

The game is reminiscent of Sierra's Police Quest in the sense that you, as Dick Tracy, typically patrol the city, awaiting mission calls from your boss. After the characteristic 'I'm on my way' response, you'll have to hit the siren and get to the scene of the crime. Good fun, with freedom of movement despite the quirky controls and illogical clues that seem to be randomly placed every time you play.
