Dicky's Diamonds

Dicky's Diamonds is a video game in the action genre and published by Romik Software Ltd originally released in 1983. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.

Dicky the owl has had all his diamonds stolen and Stephen the spider has hidden them. Stephen loves to look at diamonds, so after building a spider web, he hangs one from the center to admire it. This has given Dicky the opportunity to retrieve them by destroying each of Stephen's webs that he builds and hangs a diamond. To destroy a spider web, Dicky has to go over each strand and turn it from white to black, but he has to leave the center strand for last to collect the diamond. If the spider web is destroyed and the center strand turns black before the other strands, the diamond is lost. Pick up the diamond and move to the next harder web to retrieve another one.

The web is shown from the side with the entire web on the screen and as Dicky moves, Stephen also moves through his web and any black strands found, he turns them back to white. If Dicky stands still for too long, Stephen thinks he is trapped and moves quickly towards him. When Dicky's path is a black strand, he has the ability to fly over it and the choice of the number of flights can be limited or unlimited and is chosen from a menu before the game starts. If limited is chosen, the number of flights of each spider web decreases as the levels increase. If Dicky is touched by Stephen or the web is destroyed without collecting the diamond, then he loses one of the three lives and the web has to be completed again if a life is lost.

Before starting the game there are a number of options that can be changed which include the aforementioned limited or unlimited flights, the starting level (1-7), the speed of the game (0-9) and whether a second spider called Cecil appears after level 7. To control Dicky the joystick or keyboard is used and high scores can be saved.
