Digital League Baseball

Digital League Baseball is a video game in the simulation genre developed by Edmond Designs originally released in 1987. It is currently playable on DOS.

Digital League Baseball is a single-player baseball simulator.

The player can select any of the four major leagues in the United States, the National League East and West and the American League East and West. Once the league is selected, two teams are chosen, one home and one away, the roster players are selected, the batting order is decided, the pitcher, and the game begins.
This is an old game and the processing power when it was developed was not very great. Because of this, the game has taken a novel approach to graphics. All the action takes place in small windows that appear in the main game area. A typical sequence begins with the opening of a window showing the pitcher throwing the ball to the batter. If the ball is hit, it flies out of that window, which closes immediately, and a new one opens showing the ball approaching a fielder who may or may not catch it. Often, the fielder catches the ball and immediately throws it to one of the bases, so that window closes and another one opens showing whether the runner reached the base safely or not.
When a game is over, the player is shown the current leaderboard and is invited to select another pair of teams to play against each other.
The game has the typical sound effects of games of this era, i. e. , beeps when the ball is hit and something that simulates applause when a runner reaches base safely. There are also in-game options to change teams, substitute pitcher, steal, bat, view game stats and more.
