Divex

Divex is a video game in the educational genre and published by Avalon Hill Game Company, The originally released in 1984. It is currently playable on Atari 8-bit.

Atari 8-bit computers were the first to bring arcade-style gaming to the home. One of the more popular titles to be released for the system was Divex, released in 1984. A side-scrolling shoot-em-up, Divex was an incredibly popular game at its time.

In Divex, the player takes control of a submarine, navigating through a maze of sea creatures, searching for an underwater base. The player must shoot their way past various enemies, while avoiding mines, torpedoes and other hazards. The goal of the game is to reach the base and destroy it.

There are five levels to Divex, each one getting progressively more difficult. The enemies become stronger and the hazards become more frequent. The player can collect power-ups to make their submarine more powerful, such as increased speed and more powerful weapons.

Divex was a great success for Atari 8-bit computers. It was praised for its intense gameplay and detailed graphics. The game also had a two-player mode, allowing friends to battle against each other. Divex was an incredibly popular title and is still remembered fondly by many Atari 8-bit fans.
