Dragcity U. S. A. is a single-player drag racing shareware game in which the goal is to get the fastest possible time in a drag race.
The game is controlled with the mouse or keyboard and there is not much sound other than a basic whirring sound when the car accelerates. The game is simple and basically consists of getting to the starting line, waiting until the green light comes on, accelerating through the gears as fast as possible and continuing the acceleration to the finish line. With a couple of practice runs, each run takes about eleven seconds or less.
The game keeps a record of the best time for each session, but there is no scoreboard and the race time from one session is not saved for the next. To improve the race time, the player can play with the car's gear ratios.
