Dragon Wars

Dragon Wars is a video game in the role-playing (rpg) genre developed by Interplay Productions, Inc. and published by Interplay Productions, Inc. originally released in 1990. It is currently playable on DOS.

Dragon Wars takes place in the magical land of Dilmun, an island of salvation perverted into a world of horror by Namtar (as expected, the bad guy).

The player starts with a party of four in the city of Purgatory, equipped with nothing but . . . well - nothing. Worst of all, your magic users won't help you either, because magic has been banned (correcting this unpleasant situation is one of your main objectives). Other main objectives are to survive, get out of Purgatory and overthrow Namtar (maybe get some decent clothes, a shiny sword or two and the like on your way out).

The gameplay is instantly reminiscent of the Bard's Tale series. Step by step, first person and in 3D, opponents materialize out of thin air. The combat system is turn-based.

Unlike its (spiritual?) predecessors, the game features a full skill system, automatic mapping and plenty of places to actually use all these skills.
The reasonable distribution of your skill points is quite critical.
