Emerald Densetsu

Emerald Densetsu is a video game in the role-playing (rpg) genre developed by New System House Oh! and published by New System House Oh! originally released in 1990. It is currently playable on PC-88, Sharp X68000.

Somewhere in the galaxy there is a planet called Sera. It is protected by a wall of energy that its inhabitants call the 'Force'. The Force is sustained by magical crystals known as seeds. When demons begin to invade the planet, the nameless hero's task is to gather the seeds, which are scattered all over the surface of Sera, to restore the planet's Force and save it from the demonic invasion.

All exploration in Emerald Densetsu is done from a side-scrolling perspective, but it is not an action game; it is a solo turn-based RPG. Enemies appear randomly, with their images superimposed on the exploration screen (making battles a first-person view). Battles are performed by selecting commands from the menu. The hero has 'force points' and uses various 'force techniques', which function as magic spells (healing, offensive, etc. ). Defeated enemies give experience points to the hero, allowing him to level up and become stronger. There is no money in the game; items, weapons and armor can only be found by exploring the world, or dropped by enemies.
