Eskimo Eddie

Eskimo Eddie is a video game in the action genre and published by Ocean Software Ltd. originally released in 1984. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.

Eskimo Eddie is an arcade adventure game set in the Ice Age. The game is divided into two levels. The first level varies between the Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum versions.

In the C64 version, Eddie must make his way to the penguin Percy, who has been captured by a polar bear named Growler. To do this, he must navigate a series of platforms while jumping over snowballs that Growler throws at him. Eddie only has to rescue Percy once in order to advance to the next level.

In the Spectrum version, the first level has Eddie pick up Percy, who is at the top of the screen, and carry him back to the bottom. He must contend with two Growlers swimming across the screen, and avoid the ice holes that slide all over the screen. Eddie must rescue Percy three times before moving on to the next level.

In the second level, the entire screen is filled with ice blocks, which disappear one by one to form a maze. Percy appears in the middle of the maze. Four snow bugs also appear and start running through the maze, in an attempt to kill Percy. Percy has to squash all the snow bugs in the maze by pushing the ice blocks towards them. The ice blocks can also melt so that more space is created and Percy can pass through. Any snow bug that touches the electrified edges of the maze is stunned, allowing Percy to easily destroy it.
