European Championship 1992 is a video game in the sports genre developed by Tecmo, Ltd. and published by Elite Systems Ltd. originally released in 1992. It is currently playable on DOS, Amiga, Atari ST.
Tecmo's World Cup '90 arcade game was revamped based on the 1992 European Championship for release on home computers. It recreates the tournament structure of the time (2 groups of 4 play each other once, the top 2 advance to the semi-finals followed by a final), with any of Europe's soccer nations available to be chosen as those 8, and 1 or 2 human players choosing their team, playing with keyboard or joystick.
Matches are played from a side-scrolling perspective. The ball is glued to the player's foot, and can be kicked or passed with a press of the fire button. The referee is fairly lenient when it comes to hard sliding tackles, although fierce contact will result in a free kick.
