Flash Gordon

Flash Gordon is a video game in the action genre developed by Sirius Software, Inc. and published by Sirius Software, Inc. originally released in 1983. It is currently playable on Atari 8-bit, VIC-20.

You are Flash Gordon. Many spacemen have entered Spider City but have never returned. Your job, Flash, is twofold. Rescue the spacemen you find in the tunnels of Spider City and destroy all the hatching pods.

The bottom of the screen is a map. You are the horizontal line, the hatching pods are the vertical lines and the Disruptors are the crosses. The upper part of the screen is the foreground of the action.

You rescue the astronauts by touching them with your ship. You destroy the hatching pods, and the hatching spider warriors, by flying into the pods and then shooting the warriors.

You can also shoot at generators, patrol ships and debris. Shooting the generator will stop the Disruptor from moving around the city for a while, but the debris never stops while you're inside, so don't stay in the Disruptor.

If you destroy five warriors in a hatching pod or your ship is destroyed when it returns, you will have a shield for a short time. There will be two beeps to alert you that the shield is going away.

Scoring is as follows:
10 points = Debris
25 points = Patrol ship
70 points = Rescued spacer
100 points = Disruption generator

You get 100 points for killing the first warrior in a capsule, 200 for the second, 300 for the third and so on.

You lose 1,000 points if you shoot an astronaut, but Flash Gordon would never do that, would he?

Every time you conquer a city, you get an extra man.
