FLIP-ELLO

FLIP-ELLO is a video game in the strategy genre and published by Resuba Digital Systems originally released in 1982. It is currently playable on DOS.

FLIP-ELLO is one of the first IBM PC conversions of OthelloReversi, and as such faithfully maintains the established rules of the classic board game: each player chooses a color - black or white, represented here by 'X' and 'O' respectively. Initially two checkers of each color are placed in the center of the 8x8 grid, then players take turns placing additional checkers, trying to capture the opponent's checkers and flipping them to the player's color: this is done by enclosing a sequence (vertical, horizontal or diagonal) between two checkers of one's own color.

When no more moves can be made, whoever has the most checkers on the board wins the game. In this adaptation, it is possible to ask for hints (if there are any moves left, or which of the possible moves is the best); players can also change sides in the middle of the game, as a potential extra challenge for whoever is in the lead at that moment. If either side runs out of pieces, you can 'borrow' one from your opponent. You can play against another human or against the computer, which usually accompanies your moves with cheerful taunts and jeers.
